Design the home timeline of a Twitter-like social network
Difficulty: hard
Requirements
- Users publish short posts
- The home timeline opens in under 200 ms; reads far outnumber posts
- Followers see a new post within a few seconds
- It scales to millions of users and survives server failures
Draw the architecture from components such as load balancers, caches, queues and databases, then check it against the requirements.
